Introduction & Background
Dynamic company is seeking a Senior System Administrator (SA) who will be responsible for the advanced support and operation of the organization’s information systems. This role ensures that the information systems and related support procedures adhere to the organizational values and standard practices. This position leads technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure.  Strong security background and knowledge is essential for this role.
 
Responsibilities & Duties
 
Senior Systems/Networks/Storage administration - 50%
  • Administers and supports Active Directory services
  • Adopts best practices for network security, including auditing firewalls, applying cryptography to storage, file or web applications
  • Completes tasks and manages operations related to the maintenance plan
  • Configures and supports network security appliances, authentication systems, DNS, network access services, routing and related network services, such as VPN
  • Develops and administers scripts for automating network services
  • Ensures PCI-DSS compliance by implementing security practices and policies
  • Maintains networking systems, storage arrays for disaster recovery systems
  • Maintains the health of the IT environment, by maintaining alerts in monitoring tools (such as Microsoft Systems Center), hypervisor and storage applications
  • Manages machine resources for applications in the virtualized ecosystem
  • Provisions and maintains Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI)
  • Solves complex technical problems
  • Supports user access controls, file/print services, email protection services, and information security policies
  • Supports the network operations for the business; such as VM provisioning, networking system, printing systems, installing third-party software and configuring virtualized systems.
  • Supports operating systems for servers, clients and endpoints
  • Troubleshoots alerts and tickets to remediate issues
 
Enterprise Application Management and Support - 30%
  • Assists with information technology projects including design, deployment and adoption of application services
  • Builds, implements and maintains custom SQL reports
  • Delivers systems documentation for projects and enterprise applications
  • Designs, implements and supports solutions in Microsoft Dynamics CRM
  • Develops stored procedures, transaction SQL scripts, integration jobs, and other processes.
  • Manages the technical team for projects and enterprise application development
  • Supports IIS configurations and supports SQL databases services
  • Supports Microsoft Office 365 services, AWS and other cloud services
 
Escalated Technical Support - 20%
  • Delivers business justifications, train users in complex topics, making presentations to an internal audience
  • Documents technical resolutions in the ticketing system
  • Provides timely on premise and remote support services for staff including support for applications, hardware, software and mobile devices
  • Provides end user training and presentations on new services
  • Reports on staff feedback, security concerns and accessibility issues to the IT Manager
 
Qualifications
Essential Skills:
  • Completion of post-secondary diploma or applied degree in information systems, or computer science degree or equivalent
  • Experience developing SQL integration (SSIS) packages and custom SQL reports (SSRS)
  • Minimum of 5 years in system administrator role supporting virtualized systems and enterprise applications
  • Strong background in supporting storage technologies, networks and firewalls/security appliances
  • Strong understanding of database administration, disaster recovery and enterprise back applications, such as Veeam Backup & Replication
  • Strong work experience supporting CRM (Dynamics) and ERP applications
  • Support experience for Microsoft Active Directory, ADFS, Exchange, IIS, and Skype for Business is required
  • VMWare Certified Professional and Microsoft certifications are an asset
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with stakeholders at all levels
  • Ability to represent self, unit and organization in a professional manner in all dealings
  • Strong customer focus with the ability to prioritize in a changing environment
  • Strong analytical, research and problem solving skills.
