Introduction & Background
This position is a Project Manager and IS Manager role.  The Project Management Lead will lead projects from initiation to completion. The position involves interaction with IS Infrastructure and Operations staff, Business Systems Analysts, Developers, business units, third party vendors, and other groups within the IS department.
 
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
  • Deliver projects in accordance within the company’s established standards and practices such as Project Management Methodology, SDLC and Change Management
  • Maintain relationship with IS management to anticipate requests for project management services, validate and negotiate priorities to maximize utilization of the pool of project managers on the team
  • Deliver projects on time, on budget, and with a customer satisfaction rating of Met or Exceeded Expectations
  • Manage client expectations proactively through timely, open, and honest communication
  • Maintain projects cost, schedule, issues and risks and communicate project status to stakeholders, using Primavera
  • Provide assistance to distressed projects when required
  • Provide coaching to IS project managers on the usage of practices as defined in the organization’s Project Management and SDLC methodologies; and
  • Advocate good project management practices within the Information Systems Department
 
Qualifications
Essential Skills:
  • At least 10 years of experience in IS, including 5 years of practical, hands-on experience managing application software or infrastructure projects
  • A university degree in Computer Science is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • The candidate will have completed, or is working towards, a professional Project Management certification, preferably a PMP from the Project Management Institute
  • Knowledge on System Development methodologies such as Object Oriented, CMMI, Agile, UML and DSDM would be considered an asset
  • Exposure to ITSM processes such as Incident Management, Change Management, Release Management, Problem Management and process definition is desirable.
  • A solid understanding of the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Experience on process definition and implementation
  • Experience on managing team performance.
